Sept. 30--Beth Kraft, RN

Emergency response coordinator

Birthplace: Lake Region Healthcare

Education: Associates in Nursing Degree; certified MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) instructor

Employer: Lake Region Healthcare since 1999

Q: What advice would you give to people for life in general?

A: Success is not a measure of social or economic status. It is a feeling of being content with where you are at in life at the end of the day, and a smile on your face when you think about how your life has played out thus far.

Q: What would you do if you had more free time?

A: I would spend it with my family and friends making memories.

Q: What are the best words to describe you?

A: This is the question I hate...I despise talking about myself. But, if I have to describe myself, I would say that I am empathetic, compassionate, and a little reserved.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Sushi

Q: What is your pet peeve?

A: People that are chronically running late.

Q: What is the one thing you have learned in life?

A: Life isn't promised, it's a gift. Working in a healthcare setting, especially in emergency medicine, really gives you perspective on life. So, when life gets me down, I try to take a step back and look at how fortunate I am.

Q: What is your favorite vacation spot?

A: Any beach, surrounded by good

company.

Q: What is your favorite kind of music?

A: I don't have a favorite, it depends on my mood. I listen to anything from Hard Rock, to Country, to Top 20.

Q: What is the best thing about our community in your opinion?

A: I love being from, and raising my family in a small town. Fergus Falls is a pretty town, with a lot to offer for a family.

Q: If Money weren't an object and you could do any job in the world, what would you do?

A: I would love to travel, so being a reviewer for international 5 star hotels or tropical getaways would be amazing. To be honest, if money weren't an issue, I would probably volunteer in an area related to healthcare. I love kids, so a free wellness clinic for pediatrics, would be ideal.

Q: What is your proudest accomplishment?

A: Hands down, my family. I wouldn't trade my husband Nick, or my children, Maggie (age 6), and Gage (age 3) for the world.

Q: If you were to go back in time, what advice would you give yourself?

A: Where to start....I would say, always go with your gut instinct, it won't lead you astray. And, live life with no regret. Life is too short to always to think of "what if", take that chance.

Sarah Brunn, RN

Emergency medicine and cardiac rehab director

Birthplace: Grand Forks, ND

Education: Associates Degree in Nursing. Currently working on BSN through UND.

Employer: Lake Region Healthcare, 13 1/2 years

Q: What advice would you give to people for life in general?

A: Think about why do what you do. In every area of your life, especially your career, you will face challenges at times. To keep moving forward I think it's important to remember what brought you to that area in the first place, and what keeps you there. As a nurse, my WHY was initially just that I love people and wanted to take care of them. Over the years my WHY has matured into a deep desire to see those in my community not just survive but thrive. Whether I'm taking care of a patient in the ED or Cardiac Rehab, or working with the staff in the departments that I'm blessed enough to lead, I want to ensure that they receive spectacular care. That is my WHY. What is yours?

Q: What would you do if you had more free time?

A: Spend a lot more time camping with my kids.

Q: What are the best words to describe you?

A: Compassionate, reflective, empathetic.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: My boys would say Salad. Truly, my all-time favorite food is a German dish called "kraut bierok" -- a mixture of cooked ground beef, cabbage, and onions wrapped in a sweet bread pocket. My mouth is watering thinking about it.

Q: What is your pet peeve?

A: I try not to let little things drive me crazy.

Q: What is the one thing you have learned in life?

A: Most of us are better off if we spend more time listening than we do speaking.

Q: What is your favorite vacation spot?

A: In a Minnesota State Park.

Q: What is your favorite kind of music?

A: I like it all!

Q: What is the best thing about our community in your opinion?

A: There are so many great things about our community, it's hard to pick just one! I love that we are a community that takes care of people. There are so many incredible resources here: amazing healthcare, incredible public health, a huge network of churches that work together to ensure spiritual care, the list goes on and on. We have such a great community!

Q: If Money weren't an object and you could do any job in the world, what would you do?

A: I would love to just continue to take care of people that needed it, whatever that may look like.

Q: What is your proudest accomplishment?

A: My family! I have an incredible husband, an amazing daughter and son-in-law (and soon-to-be granddaughter!), and four awesome boys.

Q: If you were to go back in time, what advice would you give yourself?

A: Pay attention! Listen to the wise ones around me -- my way is NOT always the best way.
