LPD headquarters undergoes upgrades

News-Topic - 7/31/2022

Jul. 29—LENOIR — The city is nearly finished with an upgrade to the entrance of the city of Lenoir Police Department headquarters in downtown Lenoir.

The old ramp, which was built before the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law, didn't meet current requirements. The new ramp meets all ADA requirements and makes the department more accessible. The city also upgraded the old white brick around the planters with new stone façade and poured a stamped-concrete entrance at the stairs to resemble the gray slate on the building's veranda. The last thing to do is install a new sign, which is coming soon.
