Saturday food truck festival at J.D. McCarty Center to celebrate 'National Occupational Therapy Month'

Daily Oklahoman - 6/27/2018

June 27--NORMAN -- A food truck festival is set for Saturday at the J.D. McCarty Center for children with developmental disabilities.

The "Street Eats" festival will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the center, 2002 E Robinson St.

"Street Eats" is hosted by the center's occupational therapy department to celebrate "National Occupational Therapy Month." This is the third year the department has hosted the festival.

The event will feature food trucks from the metro area, live music, crafts and an inflatable for kids. Tours of the center also will be available.

"I'm really excited for this year," said Jenny Hughes, event coordinator and a certified occupational therapy assistant at the center. "We have a lot of new trucks and new family-friendly activities."

The event also is an opportunity to raise awareness about occupational therapy, as well as programs offered at the McCarty Center, Hughes said.

The McCarty Center specializes in the care and treatment of children with developmental disabilities from birth to age 21. The center provides medical care and physical, occupational, speech and language therapy for children on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

For more information about the center's programs and events, go to www.jdmc.org or follow the center on Facebook or Twitter.
