Sunny Hill Nursing Home of Will County gets new bus for seniors

The Will County Board accepted the keys to the new Sunny Hill Nursing Home bus at its May board meeting. President of the Sunny Hill Resident Council Jamie Wesley presented the keys.

"We really are proud of our bus," Wesley said. "It's so much better than our last one."

The Friends of Sunny Hill, a nonprofit group that supports the nursing home and its residents, raised $76,000 to purchase the bus, according to a news release. It has increased capacity for passengers who use wheel chairs, better heating and other upgrades.

"We're thrilled to have a group of volunteers ..., who are dedicated to going above and beyond for our Will County seniors," said Judy Ogalla, R-Monee, the Public Health and Safety committee chair.

The bus will take residents on outings, to appointments and shopping.
